Advocacy and Follow-up Meetings with Government Departments
04 Advocacy meetings were held with Women Development Department for nominations of District Monitoring Committees, District Protection Committees, and Appointment of Protections Officers under laws of Sindh Child Marriage Restraint Act 2013 and Domestic Violence (Prevention and Protection) Act 2013.
Meeting was also held with Ms. Shehla Raza, Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly on June 15, 2017 on the need assessment of Women Parliamentary Caucus office to be established in Sindh Assembly. It was also requested to formally permit SPO to disseminate toll free number widely into public to impart awareness on human (women) rights protection mechanism through FM radios supported by human rights department government of Sindh. SPO project Karachi team also held meeting with Secretary Home Department, Govt. of Sindh at his office to peruse the agenda of the Establishment of Women Protection Cell in targeted Districts of Matiari, Jamshoro and Karachi and Establishment / Strengthening of Shelter houses in targeted districts.
05 follow ups meetings were conducted – 01 each with Chief Secretary Sindh, Secretary WDD Sindh, Secretary law and Parliamentary Affairs Sindh for notification of SCSW on 14th of June 2017. 02 meetings were held with Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly on 15th of June and 16th of July 2017 on functioning of Women Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) in GBV response services.
