SPO is the first organization that is reaching far flung areas of affected district Awaran and collecting damage information. In second live feed right from extremely devastated UC of Gajjar (situated in the north-east of Awaran town at a distant of 85Km) assessment mission shared that whole town has been completely flattened. Estimated 2400-2500 houses have been demolished and 100% (17000-18000) population is affected. Around 375 deaths and around 1000 injured persons have been reported. There is no medical assistance available there and around 50% injured persons have been shifted to Karachi rests are living under open sky and agonizingly waiting for medical aid and emergency assistance. Gajjar town is filled with pungent smell because high number of livestock perished and their decaying bodies are posing a serious health challenge and potential threat for possible outbreak of diseases.
Seri and Cheeri Malhaar, other location of tehsil Awaran, assessment mission reported 75 deaths and around 500 injured persons. These villages are located in north-west of Awaran town at a distance of 35Km. Estimated population of these villages, is 3000 and 100% affected with the earthquake and now living under open sky. After 4 days of the disaster there is no shelter for the affected population and they are waiting for emergency assistance and medical aid.
Today, another assessment mission departed for Dandar UC of Kech district in order to highlight the plight of affected population in severely hit UC of the district. Assessment report will be available tomorrow.
According to official and media sources the death toll has been reached to 400 while 1000have been injured.
SPO appeals to all concerned for immediate response so that relief assistance can be quickly deliver to those who are suffering from injuries, hunger and climatic conditions.
