One joint Khuli Kachari was organised for Aawaz union council Botala and 50 MB in press club Khushab. Khuli Kachari was addressed by Ms. Asma Cheema, AC Khushab; Ms. Tabinda Amjad, district information officer Khushab; and Ms. Nabeela Malik, EDO community development. An Attorney General from district court was also invited to represent women rights and women protection institutes.
Mr. Akram Khurshid, Manger Aawaz program and Mr. Zeeshan from DAI were also in the event as special guests. Union council development plans of both union councils were presented by the village forum members, and more than one women participated in the event Proceedings.
In the first session, RPs of AACs presented UCDP. Attorney General presented a brief introduction of women’s rights and women protection institutions. After that session was open to the participants for question/ answer sessions and representatives of district government responded to their questions. In the last session, all guest speakers addressed to the community.
Following were identified issues in UDP Botala: • A primary school for girls and boys is needed in Dera Balian wala • In village Jhugi Mandha, a girls primary school was demanded. • 53 MB village identified that boundary wall in boys primary school is demolished so it is in need of repair. • BHU is providing services for 12 hours but it was demanded by the community to BHU provide services for 24 hours. • Maternity home for village 40 MB was demanded. • Water supply of safe drinking water was demanded in villages of Botala, 41 MB, 42 MB, 43 MB, 44MB and 48 MB. • Sewerage system for villages of Botala 40 MB, 41MB, 42 MB, 43 MB and 44 MB was demanded. • Village forum Dera Bakli identified issue of railway crossing through which residents are unable to approach main road. • Roads for Botala to 42 MB and Botala to Jhugi Mandy were demanded. • In all union council electricity polls are needed to install.
Following were identified issues in UDP 50 MB: • In all union council electricity polls are needed to install and provision of electricity in few streets is also needed. • Girls and boys primary school in Odd colony is needed. • Upgradation of girls and boys schools in village 52 MB was demanded. • Water supply in 49 MB and 51 MB was demanded by the community. • 45 MB, 46 MB, 47MB, 49MB, odd colony, 50, 51, 52 and 53 MB sewerage system was approved. in one of previous Khuli Kachari and it was demanded to start work on it as soon as possible. • Road construction from Jouhrabad to Chakook was demanded. • Unpaved streets of all villages were identified so it was demanded to initiate construction of pavements on streets. • 53 MB, medicines are not enough and there is no dispensary 46 MB.
Results: • Women members of AVF, directly interacted and represent their issues with district administrator. • AC Khushab promised to the community that she will pursue initiative to transfer vacant land of government vacant to the landless families. So, she committed that she will forward the summary of request and will follow up this issue with the relevant authorities. • Water supply scheme is approved in 50 MB villages so AC committed that she will ensure the construction will be started within 3 months. • AC Khushab, shared her contact number and WhatsApp number to the community to share their issues directly with her. • Union council development plans were shared with the relevant district administrative officers.
