SPO in collaboration with Oxfam and the support of the Government of Punjab’s Human Rights & Minority Affairs Department, held a Provincial Advocacy Forum in a private hotel in Lahore on the 28th of June, 2021 to discuss initiatives that will improve the access to fair, legitimate and effective justice for all citizens of Pakistan.
Attendees of the Provincial Advocacy Forum included the Provincial Minister of Human Rights & Minority Affairs, Ijaz Alam Augustine, Spokesperson Government of Punjab, Musarat Jamshed Cheema, Former Additional Chief Secretary, Iftikhar Ahmed, DG Women Authority Punjab, Irshad Waheed, civil society members, academia, police, lawyers and representatives of other relevant departments.
SPO’ Head of Program, Ms. Shazia Shaheen, Regional Coordinator, Mr. Shah Nawaz, Khan and Oxfam’s Team Lead, Ms. Asma Kiran, oriented participants on the Addressing Root Causes (ARC) project. SPO, with support of Oxfam, intervenes at a grassroots level to bridge the communication gap between communities and justice providers as a means to empower communities with legal knowledge, policies, to ensure equitable delivery of justice in society.
