Women inclusion in Sahiwal, Lodhran and Bahawalpur
Women inclusion in political process is thematic area of democratic governance program SPO has been supporting since 1996. In this regard, SPO with the technical support of TDEA has been implementing SELP project in three districts – Sahiwal, Lodhran and Bahawalnagar.
Last month, SPO field teams conducted community meetings aiming to improve knowledge and increase awareness among communities on importance of women NICs to further their political role. Since the inception of SELP project, SPO got 15071 unregistered women belonging to low-income households of the targeted districts registered. SPO reached more than 2000 unregistered women and transported 1064 listed unregistered women to NADRA Registration Centers where they were facilitated successfully. These 15071 women are now eligible voters and will be able to participate in electoral processes”.
