PURAMAN PAKISTAN

  “Love All Hate None, A Call by Unheard” Efforts to make Pakistan peaceful are initiated at all levels of the society. One such effort was taken up by Strengthening Participatory Organization (SPO) under the banner of Pur Aman Pakistan campaign by Umeed Jawan. “Love all hate none, a call by unheard” was an initiative by SPO to promote peace with the revival of cultural roles if marginalized community like that of merasi’s, bhaands, nuts, and transgender. The project initiated with the identification of these marginalized community by hunting their talent and called them for four daylong sessions to link their latent talent with the message of peace. The idea behind their selection for the peace promotion was that they have easy access to the larger population and with their performance they could spread message. 120 members of these communities attended sessions on peace poetry and storytelling, songs, dance and theatre for change. Through these trainings they developed their performances in the form of Jugat bazi (cracking jokes) songs, dance and theatre play having peace message embedded.

Flood Situation 2015 Update – 3

Issued at:17:00, 30th July, 2015 District Rajanpur: District Rajanpur is badly affected due to heavy floods in the riverine areas of Indus and flash floods from the Koh-e-Suleman.UC Jahanpur, UC Noorpur, Machiwala, and some areas of KotMithan are badly hit .The most vulnerable villages for flash floods includesHajipur, Hirand, ChakShaheed and Patti JumaArain etc.Hill torrents and flash floods come from Sulaiman Range at its west,whereas, Indus River at the East overflows in areas of UC Noorpur including Bruce Abad, Tong, MallaKhel and KachDhreg etc. This year, hundreds of houses and thousands acres of crops are damaged fully with a considerable population is displaced. Damages expected: The hill torrents and flood in the Indus have inundated 40,433 acres, damaged 33,798 acres of standing crops and dislocation of thousands of people.Now, hill torrents in Sulaiman Range and Indus River were recorded at 550,000 cusecs as a result of heavy rains, while there is a medium-level flood in the Indus. There is threat of more flood water due to heavy rains forecast onward. 

Flood Situation 2015 Update – 2

Issued at: 16:00, 28th July, 2015 Torrential rains, rapidly melting of snow and glacial lake outburst have further aggravated the floods situationacross Pakistan. According to OCHA report, the floods have affected 23 Districts across Pakistan with 55 reported fatalities and 14 people injured. Chitral District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and six Districts of Punjab province have been badly hit. The heavy flow of water in Indus River has put many district of south Punjab and Sindh at high risk.
