Project: Access to Clean Drinking Water & Health and Hygiene Promotions for Temporarily Dislocated Person (TDPs) of North Waziristan
In the context of installation of water filtration plant under the WASH Project, funded by ‘World Vision Pakistan’, a cheque handing over ceremony was organizedunder the servision of the Assistant Commissioner DI Khan on 24th June 2015. In this event, beside Assistant Commissioner DI Khan Mr. Salman Lodhi, who is focal person for NWA TDPs in DI Khan; Mr. WilayatUllah Khan Executive Engineer Public Health; Mr. Sheikh Arsalan SDO PHED; Mr. ShafiUllah Khan Regional Head SPO, DI Khan; Mr. InamUllah Khan Program Specialist SPO; Mr. InayatAdil Senior columnist and Mr. WaqasShahani Program officer SPO were also present at the occasion. Program Specialist shared that water filtration plant is being installed on water supply facility Dewala of PHED; it will cost Rs. 2,200,000 and benefit 1200 households including TDPs and the host community living in this locality. Regional Head shared that SPO is serving in DI Khan for more than last 15 years in development and humanitarian sectors and will continue its role for the betterment of the people of DI Khan.
Assistant Commissioner DI Khan along with Regional Head SPO handed over 1st installment cheque of Rs. 1,320,000 (60% of the total cost) to Executive Engineer Public Health. He said that drinking water is a big issue in DI Khan and the influx of TDPs has further aggravated the situation. The District Administration is trying to resolve the water issue and this filtration plant will be a beneficial contribution. He further advised the XEN PHED to initiate the work on urgent basis and to complete it in minimum time period. The XEN PHED said that their department will execute the physical work as per departmental procedures and will utilize the available resources more efficiently.
