Two meetings were conducted for PSF advocacy campaign on 8th and 17th of August 2017 in Karachi to strategize the action plan for PSF advocacy campaign. Second meeting conducted was held as roundtable discussion with PSF members and legislators to advocate for notification of SCSW and pro women legislation structures.
Women members of provincial assembly of Sindh, civil society, legal experts and media participated in discussion. Nailla Muneer (MPA, Member Parliamentary Committee MQM), Naheed Begum (MPA, Member Parliamentary Committee MQM), Heer Suho (MPA, Member Parliamentary Committee MQM), Soorath Theebo (MPA, Member Parliamentary Committee PML-N), Gazala Siyal (MPA, Member Parliamentary Committee PPP), Kulsoom Chandio MPA Member Parliamentary Committee PPP, Nusrat Saher Abbasi MPA PML-F – committed to establish pro women structures to safeguard women being denied fundamental human rights in Sindh Province.
The legislators of Sindh Government from parties in government and opposition shared updates on notification of Sindh Commission on the Status of Women (SCSW) and agreed to expedite the process as members of Sindh Assembly and members of SCSW parliamentary committee. They committed to take this issue in Sindh Assembly for establishment of SCSW and implementation of pro women legislation in Sindh province.
