Youth Conference on World Water Day
SPO in collaboration with Water Aid organized a Youth Conference on World Water Day with Youth members of District Councils on 22nd March 2018, in Lahore.
Youth members of 21 District Councils of Punjab, members of Provincial Assembly and representatives of civil society participated in this event. Main objective of the event was to advocate increased allocation of budget for Water and Sanitation in the Annual Budget of 2018.
Chief Guest Sadique Ahmad, Country Director Water Aid, said that “water and sanitation conditions have aggravated in our country with time to the extent that 89% of the water in supplies is unsafe, 25 million people do not have facility of toilets and every year almost 39 thousand children suffer from water –borne diseases due to shortage of clean drinking water.
