Provincial Media Fellowship on Responsible Representation and Reporting on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Child Marriage.
SPO, with technical support from UNFPA Pakistan and in collaboration with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on the Status of Women (KPCSW) and the University of Peshawar, successfully organized a Two-Day Refresher on the Provincial Media Fellowship on Responsible Representation and Reporting on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Child Marriage on 29–30 June 2026 in Peshawar. Generously supported by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Pakistan the refresher brought together media fellows from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who had participated in the Provincial Media Fellowship in 2025.
The refresher strengthened participants’ knowledge and skills through sessions on workplace harassment laws and institutional redressal mechanisms, journalists’ safety and emotional well-being, the evolving media landscape, Artificial Intelligence (AI) in journalism and the future of media, ethical reporting on GBV and child marriage, and responsible story development. Participants also presented and pitched story ideas, receiving expert feedback and mentorship to further strengthen their storytelling on gender issues.
The refresher reaffirmed the vital role of media professionals in advancing ethical, survivor-centered, and gender-sensitive journalism to promote informed public discourse and contribute to the prevention and response to GBV and child marriage.
