The orientation on the officially launched Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Dar-ul-Amans and Women Crisis Centers was held in Peshawar from 19th to 20th May 2026, in collaboration with the Social Welfare, Special Education & Women Empowerment Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with technical support from the UNFPA Pakistan and Strengthening Participatory Organization under the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office-funded flagship Aawaz II Programme.

Participants included Dar-ul-Aman managers, District Social Welfare Officers, and Wardens from the newly developed Dar-ul-Amans. The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa currently operates 10 Dar-ul-Amans across various districts, while 5 additional Dar-ul-Amans have been newly developed. Key districts represented included Peshawar, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Chitral, Bannu, Kohat, Lower Dir, Swat, Haripur, and Mardan.

Ms. Rabia Khan, Mr. Muhammad Zakria, and Mr. Syed Haider Shah facilitated the orientation sessions, group work, and the presentation of recommendations from participants. Syeda Nudrat, Gender Specialist, Social Welfare Department, also engaged in detailed discussions with participants and documented their concerns and operational challenges to inform future implementation.

The orientation concluded with closing remarks by Mr. Umara Khan, Additional Secretary, Social Welfare, Special Education & Women Empowerment Department, who appreciated the active participation and valuable contributions of all attendees. He emphasized the importance of effective implementation of the SOPs across all Dar-ul-Amans and Women Crisis Centers to ensure standardized, survivor-centered, and quality services for women and girls in need of protection and support throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
