River Chenab is flowing in High Flood at PanjnadHeadworks with rising trend. The inflow/outflow is 431,000 Cusecs, whereas River Indus is at Low Flood Stage at Guddu Barrage where currently the discharge is 248600 Cusecs. Other main Rivers i.e. Jhelum, Ravi & Sutlej are flowing Normal.According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast there would not be any significant weather event expected in the country for next 48 hours.
District Shujabad has been hit badly by the breaches of flood protection wall. The whole district has been inundated; standing crops on thousands of acres are washed out as a result of inundation.
This flood is taking toll of human life on regular basis and the current death toll has touched the mark of 341. 29 persons have lost their life during last 24 hours in affected districts of South Punjab. The number of injured persons is also on rise and touching the mark of 541. There is not significant addition in the affected population recorded during last 24 hours and the numbers are almost similar (2.275 million) as per update III. 47799 houses have been damaged (fully or partly) in the flood affected regions of Pakistan and an overwhelming majority is in Punjab.
Pak Army and civil administration is busy in rescue and relief operation. 479 relief camps have been set up and around 70 thousand affected people have taken refuge in the camps. Army and civil administration have been evacuated 526,416 persons with the help of boats and air lift.
Government of Pakistan has requested United Nations for rolling out Multi Cluster Integrated Rapid Assessment (MIRA) Tool in 6 district including Jhang, Chiniot, Hafizabad, Multan and Sialkot.
