Under the project “Public Assembly” was organized by SPO office Karachi based the community and civil society needs to interact with relevant authority to highlight the advocacy issues on implementation of pro- women laws in concerned district and Sindh province. Stakeholders from provincial assembly Sindh, community based organizations, UNICEF and HANDS International, Child Protection Authority (CPA), Women Development Department (WDD), Social Welfare Department, District Administration Malir, Education Department Malir, Health Department Malir, Zila Council Members, Revenue Department, Local Government Representatives, UC secretaries, chairmen, NikkahKhunwan, Nikkah Registrars, Legal Fraternity, Chairperson Sindh Commission on the Status of Women (SCSW) and community men and women participated in these Public Assemblies or  Open Kachhari. 

Key recommendations from stakeholders and community people:    

  • More safe Houses, Complaint Centers and Shelter Houses should be established in Sindh
  • District Monitoring Committee members should be nominated in Sindh
  • Moulvis should be sensitized to address the issues of early child marriage and domestic violence in their sermons according to law
  • Nikkah Khunwan and Nikkah registrars should be monitored
  • Provincial and district level Domestic Violence Commissions should be established by WDD offices in Sindh
