SPO Hyderabad has organised two Days Training on Community Based Monitoring of Services organized for citizen groups of 12 selected villages at District Khairpur Mir’s under Citizen First Oxfam Novib Project.
The objectives of this training were:
To enhance the knowledge of community citizen groups about basic Human Rights with regard to constitution (10 to 28) of Pakistan
To build capacity regarding importance of networking with local/district government and their role and responsibilities
Advocacy on basic rights and its steps
To develop village level advocacy plans
The participatory methodology adopted in training workshop was to build confidence level among citizen groups and provide platform to sharing of innovative ideas. The participation of government departments also ensured in the training. In this regard DSM PPHI Dr. Bashir Ahmed Jagirani and his team members visited on first day of training on 20th April 2016. He appreciated efforts of SPO in Citizen First Project and ensured full cooperation from PPHI department. He further added that they will provide vaccine of hepatitis B and C as well as tetanus vaccine for females at BHU level during dialogue events. He shared that they have approved a post of male doctor at BHU Hussain Abad on the request of citizen group of village Hussain Abad.
On 2nd and last day of training dated 21st April 2016, additional deputy commissioner-II Mr. Riaz Hussain Wassan visited training and conducted dialogue session on community demands. He presented importance of citizen rights under 1 to 28 constitution, judiciary and good governance in detail. He said that citizen have right to elect their politicians/ representatives through election. Afterward he appreciated efforts of SPO and assured to welcome in every step to cooperate and provide full support in near future. In the end he distributed training certificates among participants.

Applications on community demands/needs have been drafted to further process
It was decided that MOU will be signed with DSM PPHI to provide health awareness sessions and vaccinations of tetanus for females and screening of hepatitis B and C during dialogue events arranged by SPO
Additional deputy commissioner-II ensured full cooperation with SPO in conducting and organizing in project activities towards stakeholders and government officials

These training workshops will be organized to build capacity of citizen groups and provide proper platform to develop liaison among district government/line departments.
