SPO is one of the largest humanitarian civil society actors in Pakistan who always advocates the provision of humanitarian assistance in a dignified, accountable and transparent manner to the disaster survivors. The past experiences of working under multiple emergencies enforced the organization to design such structural arrangements which help in delivering the emergency response effectively and efficiently. As a result of institutional learning, a separate and semi-autonomous department with the name of “Disaster Prepared and Response Department (DPRD)” was notified and came into being in December 2011. Since then, DPRD has been working exclusively on disaster preparedness and response on various locations of the country. Along with delivery of relief and rehabilitation projects across Pakistan, the department is also focusing on developing synergies with national and international humanitarian bodies, networks and public organization for raising the voices of those who are unheard at policy making and decision making levels.
