Political leaders and civil society activists linked the hope that the New Year 2014 will turn prosperous and peaceful for the whole Sindh and the people belonging to different sects and religious entities will play their role for promoting religious harmony.
They were speaking at a ‘Dialogue on Role of Political Parties in Good Governance’ organized by Political Parties Steering Committee in collaboration with Strengthening Participatory Organisation (SPO) Hyderabad.
The event attracted a large number of civil society activists and political cadre, hailing from six districts of the province.
Dr Qadir Magsi chairman Sindh Tarrqi Passand Party, Ayaz Latif Paleejo president Qaumi Awami Tehreek, Taj Mohammed Nahyoon of JUI, Dr Mustansar Billa of PTI, Mukhtiar Abbasi of AQwami Jamhoori Party (AJP), Husna Rahu of QAT, Roshan Buriro of Sindh United Party (SUP), Sameena Khaskheli of Nari Tehreek, Seema Shaikh, Zahida Abro of SUP, Irshad Khaskheli of PPP (SB), Nawaz Khan Zaonr of JSQM (Areesar) and others spoke on the occasion.
Sindh Tarrqi Passand Party (STP) chairman Dr Qadir Magsi said landlords and feudal lords create uproar over minor issues, which seems to be conspiracy to panic the people of different sects and religions in the province, who otherwise are living peacefully through generations. He said, the people are politically conscious and they never believe in such happenings and remain calm to avert such incidents of killing each other. He appreciated the working of SPO, which has engaged political activists, associated with different political parties for their political education, imparting training, and awareness raising about the civic problems, saying it is inspiring job doing SPO team.
Qaumi Awami Tehreek president Ayaz Latif Paleejo said Sindh has never produced extremists to be suicide bomber or those violating the traditions set by the Sufi Saints of Sindh long ago. However, he criticized the role of NGOs, saying they (NGOs) are not better substitute of political parties.
SPO regional head Mustafa Baloch shared the objectives of the dialogue and said they have engaged political cadre at district level, representing almost all the political parties.
He said SPO is the first civil society organization, which works with political parties in Sindh, but do not work with banned or involved in religious extremism and subversion.
Leading musicians also performed sufi songs to pay tribute to the ending year 2013 and linked hopes with the New Year 2014 through a unique way.
