SPO Hyderabad conducted a traditional community consultation event on 6th May 2016 at Farm Village Larkana under ‘Citizen First Project’ by OXFAM NOVIB. The key objectives of the event were to increase peace and social harmony among different tribes, and discussion on their basic social issues and their possible solutions.
About 75 people of the ‘Farm Village’ and surroundings participated in the event, shared their views and highlighted their basic social issues. The key issue raised by the speakers was the registration of their village where around 130 houses are constructed and the total population of village is around 3600 but the villagers were residing on the land which is owned by Agriculture Department, Government of Sindh. The Village is established before the partition in 1947 but still unregistered and lacking basic facilities.
It was decided that Citizen Group will conduct a meeting with Assistant Commissioner and Mukhtiarkar of Larkana requesting them for the survey of village and mapping as the first step; the next step will be the submission of application to the ministry of Katchi Abadi for registration of the village.
At the end of the program singers show their performance and received appreciation from the participants.
