Every monsoon season poses serious and potential threats of flooding in Pakistan and for last 3 consecutive years, monsoon keeps on disrupting normal life across the country. Keeping in mind the early warnings issued by concerned authorities, SPO developed its contingency plans through a thorough contemplation and shared it with relevant stakeholders well before the onset of monsoon season.

Currently various parts of the country are regularly receiving heavy precipitation and DPRD is closely monitoring the situation. So far NDMA reported 7 deaths and 5 injuries because of heavy rains and subsequent hill torrents in district Rajanpur of Punjab. As for now, the situation across the country is under control except localized low scale flooding in some villages of Sialkot district, and local authorities successfully handled the situation. All the rivers are flowing normally without causing any alarming situation and major reservoirs (Tarbella, Chashma and Mangla) are filled up to the maximum capacity.
