Efforts to make Pakistan peaceful are initiated at all levels of the society. One such effort was taken up by Strengthening Participatory Organization (SPO) under the banner of Pur Aman Pakistan campaign by Umeed Jawan.
“Love all hate none, a call by unheard” was an initiative by SPO to promote peace with the revival of cultural roles if marginalized community like that of merasi’s, bhaands, nuts, and transgender. The project initiated with the identification of these marginalized community by hunting their talent and called them for four daylong sessions to link their latent talent with the message of peace. The idea behind their selection for the peace promotion was that they have easy access to the larger population and with their performance they could spread message. 120 members of these communities attended sessions on peace poetry and storytelling, songs, dance and theatre for change. Through these trainings they developed their performances in the form of Jugat bazi (cracking jokes) songs, dance and theatre play having peace message embedded.
The performers than constitutes 4 Aman Toli comprising 8 members who would perform their part in performances. Moreover a tonga was decorated with the peace messages moved through the main roads of Lahore. Where one of the aman toli’s move along with the tonga and spread the message of peace through their talent and through brochures specially designed to promote governments helpline of 1717 (to curb the menace of terrorism by National Counter Terrorism Authority). This whole idea poses to be the successful one as it got coverage in the large number of newspapers and secondly general public was attracted to it as they asked questions and the aman toli keeps on answering and distributing brochures inscribing the promotion of helpline.
